Ramona & the Holy Smokes
“Central Virginia has its share of bluegrass and Americana music, but an old-school, authentic country movement is gaining momentum, thanks to Ramona & the Holy Smokes. Fronted by Ramona Martinez with a lineup that includes Kyle Lawton Kilduff (electric guitar), Brooks Hefner (pedal steel), Jay Ouypron (bass), and Porter Bralley (drums), the band plays honky-tonk originals in the vibe of Patsy Cline and George Jones. Martinez’s songwriting spans a range of colorful topics, including a smoking habit, ex-boyfriends, and her cat. Piloted by Nashville songwriter Harlan Howard’s “three chords and the truth” ethos, Ramona & the Holy Smokes have turned country music sneerers into believers”
Jonathan Walsh
Jonathan Walsh is a singer/songwriter from Yorktown, VA. He has been writing songs for over 20 years, and has performed on stages all over the country. He cut his teeth in NYC auditioning for Broadway, and playing gigs. His love for sharing his stories took him to San Diego, CA where he played his tunes full time for 10 years in the sunshine. While there he played everything from bars, restaurants, hotels, resorts, house concerts, private events, corporate gigs, weddings, music festivals to Las Vegas, and toured across the country a dozen times.
He has a way of drawing people in, and connecting with them in a sincere way. His positivity is infectious, and his love for his craft is evident with every song he sings.
Cleophus James
Cleophus James is rooted in over 15 years of collaboration between brothers Scott & Jamie Messier, and Jack Shea. They learned to play their instruments alongside each other from a young age —— building an organic chemistry while stripping away creative inhibition. In searching for a fuller sound, the trio found a natural and seamless addition in guitarist Colin Coon.
Cleophus James draws on an ecclectic set of influences. The band’s sound is undoubtedly at home within a psychedelic funk groove, but the songs often meander into a western twang, a jazzy sparseness, or a driving post-punk attitude. Cleophus James is a dynamic and powerful live act. Their shows supply taut, dance grooves, while maintaining a looseness to explore new ideas on the fly.
